Barton’s Mader and Truman earn All-Conference wrestling honors, Cougars begin national tournament on Friday.
Jarret Mader and Derek Truman of the Barton Community College wrestling team have been named to the 2024-25 KJCCC All-Conference teams.
Mader headlines the selections in being named to the 2nd team of the 149 Division, placing 3rd overall at the NJCAA South Central District Championships leading five Cougar berths to the upcoming national tournament. Truman's body of work led to a 3rd team selection in the 174 weight class but came up short for a qualifying bid on an unlucky District draw.
Joining Mader as national qualifiers are Jamal Garrett (125), Skyler McMullen (141), Kayden Blake (157), and Nathan Agudzi-Addo (285).
The five head to Council Bluffs, Iowa, this week for the NJCAA National Championships held Friday and Saturday at the Mid-America Center.
