Barton Women's Bowling earns pair of top-5 finishes at the SWIBC I and SWIBC II; Kitchen earns seventh place finish #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's bowling team earned a pair of top-five finishes this past weekend at the SWIBC I and SWIBC II held at the USA Super Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

Entered as the lone NJCAA program in the pair of tier-2 tournaments, the Cougars produced a third-place finish in Saturday's five individual team games and 12 baker rounds while concluding the weekend with a fourth-place finish over seven individual team game.

Blasting over 6,292 pins in Saturday's SWIBC-I, Barton rolled to a third-place finish falling 409 back of runner-up Oklahoma Christian University and 338 to the good of fourth place Spring Hill College while Louisiana Tech University claimed the team title with a mark of 7,096 pins leading the field of seven squads.

Courtney Kitchen paced the Cougars individually earning a seventh-place finish in the field of 51 participants carding a 894 total over five games tossed while posting the highest game mark on the team with a 206 score in the fourth.

Fresh off a third-place finish in Wednesday's dual against Ottawa, Jasmine Bridges recorded the highest average for the Barton squad with a 185.23 mark per-10 frames finishing 17th blasting down 741 pins in five games rolled.

Bowling in just three games, Mallory Cross displayed the second highest average score of 184 per 10-rounds fueled behind games of 204 and 205.

Sunday's Recap
Competing in just seven individual team games in Sunday's SWIBC II, the Cougars slipped a spot short of Saturday's third place result concluding with a total pin count of 5,638 falling two shy of Spring Hill College's 5,640 mark. Claiming the team title for the second consecutive day was Louisiana Tech University with a pin high 6,733.

Sophomore Angelina Leeper led the Barton squad with a 22nd place 875 score edging Bridges 23rd place total of 856. Leeper improved 16 spots from Saturday's 38th place result to lead the Cougars with an average 10-frame score of 175.

Bridges displayed the highest Barton single game score of 265 in the sixth of her seven rolled games edging out Leeper's fourth game 219.

Sitting out in individual play on Saturday, Cassidy Goans made the most of her four rolled games carding a 650 finishing 39th. Ana Stanton bettered her Saturday's 44th finish with a 42nd result in Sunday's action with a four game 561 while Kristy Wittig falling four spots back with a three game 420.

Barton's next action comes in the stout tier-1 Mid-States Championships held Saturday and Sunday in Wichita, KS featuring top four year NCAA Division I, Division II and NAIA teams.
