DuBose and Ingram lead record eleven Cougars on post-season softball selection list #GoBarton
Freshman pitcher Meleia Ingram and Head Coach Carson DuBose lead post-season selections.
A program record eleven members from the Barton Community College softball team received Division I All-KJCCC and All-Region VI post-season honors.
Head Coach Carson DuBose and freshman pitcher Meleia Ingram led the selections, joined by sophomores Allyson McDougal, Elina Bartlett, and Chloe Enslinger also landing on the first team. Sophomore Aly Lawrence headlined the second team selections, along with, freshmen Karter Alvord, Morgan Thatcher, and Peyton McCormick. Three others earned honorable mention distinctions, sophomores Brooklynn Angielski and Mia Mascarenas with freshman Laney Wood.
McDougal, last season's Most Valuable Player, repeats first team honors with Bartlett. Lawrence, Enslinger, and Angielski also earned honors last year as second team selections.
In her third season at the helm, DuBose led the Cougars to its second consecutive third place finish in the KJCCC as the program exceeded the program's best ten awards last season.
DuBose' honor is the first for the program since Tyler Gunelson's 2019 awarding.
The Cougars' year finished solidly in the third spot at 25-7, reaching the Region 6 title game in concluding the year receiving votes in the final NJCAA poll at 35-16 for the most wins since the 2016 season.
In addition to the All-Conference/Region honors, following the conclusion of the Region/District playoffs, Ingram, Alvord, and McDougal were also named to the All-Tournament team leading the Cougars to the title game for the first time since 2021.
The eleven selections helped the Cougars lead the KJCCC with a .970 fielding percentage, break a pair of program records with 1.41 home runs per contest and 8.39 runs batted in, post the program's top three single game run production outings including 43 runs scored in one contest, while placing top five in seven other offensive categories.

Meleia Ingram – Pitcher of the Year, 1st Team Pitcher
Ingram completed her collegiate debut season at 19-7 with a save for a 3.56 earned run average, the most wins since Madison Didion's 26 victories and Holly Posegate's 24, both coming in the 2016 season.
Finishing second in conference play in wins (13), Ingram led the league with 109 strikeouts for a 9.19 strikeouts per game and posted a fifth best 2.87 earned run average.
Throwing 143.2 innings during the season, the native of Salina, Kansas, struck out seven or more in thirteen games to accumulate a program single season most 182 strikeouts.
A three-time KJCCC Pitcher of the Week recipient, six games Ingram posted double-digit punchouts, four in conference play including a career high 14 at Dodge City.
On April 16th in a 12-strikeout performance against Pratt, Ingram sent the Beavers down in order recording a rare perfect game, one of the few in program history and first in atleast fifteen years.
Allyson McDougal – 1st Team Outfielder
After setting the program's single season highest batting average of .488 last season, McDougal followed with another standout season of .452 to conclude her career with the program's highest ever two-year average of .474 to deseat Erica Harper's .464 from the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
The sophomore from Moore, Oklahoma, batted an even better .510 in conference play to rank 7th best, leading the team against KJCCC opponents with a league 5th best .564 on-base percentage behind 49 hits.
Overall, McDougal put together 24 multi-hit games and despite missing six games to injury, was third on the squad in hits (71), doubles (14), and on-base percentage (.497) while leading the team in triples with three.
Named the Most Valuable Player in the region last season, McDougal carried a nine-game hit streak into this year, extending it to twelve straight with streaks of seven, nine, and eight throughout the season in never going through a doubleheader without atleast one hit.
In addition to her program record average at the plate, McDougal finished high on the career chart in five additional categories: 3rd in Hits (154), 4th in Runs Scored (117), 6th in Triples (6), and 9th in RBI (90) and Doubles (28).
Elina Bartlett – 1st Team Outfielder
Bartlett followed her 1st team selection last year as a designated player with this season's outfield honor playing mostly right field and moving into center during McDougal's six game absence.
At the plate the Cheney, Kansas, native led the Cougars with a program single season second best .475 batting average and ranked 6th in KJCCC play batting .519.
Tying McDougal with 24 multi-hit games throughout the season, Bartlett collected a team best 75 hits including a league 6th most 54 connections, 18 doubles, a .506 on-base percentage, and a team second best .785 slugging percentage.
Stringing hit streaks of 15, 10, and 7 straight, Bartlett concluded her Barton career on a 5-game consecutive streak for a program career 3rd best .456 batting average and 154 hits, was one shy of the program record finishing with 36 doubles, and additionally added her name in the top ten list of runs batted in (90) and runs scored (94).
Chloe Enslinger – 1st Team Catcher
A 2nd team selection at third base last season, Enslinger's move to full-time catcher anchored the pitching staff while also doing damage from the plate.
Leading the Cougars on a program single season 4th most 18 home runs and 5th most 65 runs batted in, the Derby, Kansas, native also led the squad in slugging percentage (.883), total bases (128), and sacrifice flies (4).
Hitting a squad 3rd best and program 10th best .441 on the year, Enslinger had 20 multi-hit games and kicked off a stretch of 14 straight games with a hit by garnering the Week 6 Player of the Week award.
Finishing 3-of-6 with a home run and pair of RBI in her final two games of the Region 6 Championship, Enslinger left her mark on the program career chart with a 2nd most runs batted in (125) and home runs (29), a 5th most hit by pitches (12), and a 6th best batting average (.434), while finishing just outside the top ten in hits (121) and runs scored (87).
Aly Lawrence – 2nd Team Infielder
Earning her second consecutive 2nd Team honor, Lawrence again was solid at the second base position with just 3 errors in 91 chances to match her freshman campaign's .980 fielding percentage.
Batting out of the No. 2 hole all season, Lawrence hit for .322 and laid down a team second best 5 sacrifice bunts and would score a club fifth best 48 runs.
In 334 career at-bats, the Wichita, Kansas, native owns the program's second most single season doubles (21), concluding her career with a 3rd most 35 two-bag hits, drew a 7th most walks (39) in scoring a 7th most runs (97), drove in a career 8th most 91 runs, and landed just outside the top ten in hits (125).
Karter Alvord – 2nd Team Infielder
Alvord anchored the Cougar infield at the short stop position on a .940 fielding percentage with just 9 errors in 149 total chances.
Hailing from McPherson, Kansas, the Week 5 KJCCC Player of the Week strung together an 11 and 9-game consecutive hit streak throughout the season for a team 5th best .418 batting average.
Alvord additionally drove in a team second most 62 runs during the season to rank behind Enslinger for 6th best in a single season, collected a 4th best 64 hits, 12 doubles, and 108 total bases, and ranked 3rd on the squad with 10 home runs including 3 fence clearers with 9 RBI on March 20 against Fort Hays Tech Northwest.
Morgan Thatcher – 2nd Team Infielder
The freshman from Valley Center, Kansas, had a phenomenal season at the hot corner, fielding an outstanding .982 on just 2 errors in 113 chances.
Stringing a trio of 4-game stretches with a hit, connecting on a best of 7 straight late in the season, Thatcher finished at .350, tied for the team lead with 5 sacrifice bunts, drew a team 4th most 18 walks, and etched her name into the record book by getting hit by a pitch a 3rd most 13 times.
Peyton McCormick – 2nd Team Utility
Like Bartlett did last year, McCormick filled multiple roles and positions for the Cougars playing left field, in the pitcher's spot, and mostly as the designated player in the heart of the lineup.
Leading the team with a program single season 5th most 27 walks, the freshman from Cheney, Kansas, had a 3rd best .497 on-base percentage scoring 119 runs while batting .410 including a team 2nd best 13 home runs, a 3rd most 51 runs driven in, and tied McDougal for the team lead with a trio of triples.
Appearing in the center circle seven times this year, McCormick was 1-1 in her 11.2 innings pitched.
Brooklynn Angielski – Honorable Mention Pitcher
Angielski followed her 2nd team selection last year with another post-season honor as one of the top handful of pitchers in the league posting a 12-7 record and 6.21 earned run average.
In league play Angielski completed a tough 1-2 pitching lineup for the Cougars earning a league 5th most victories in going 9-4 with a 4.95 earned run average.
Appearing in 23 games throughout the season, the sophomore from Sperry, Oklahoma, pitched 111.2 innings with 55 strikeouts in concluding her career 21-16 with 128 punchouts.
Mia Mascarenas – Honorable Mention Infielder
Playing limited time last year, Mascarenas stepped in and was the mainstay first baseman throughout her sophomore campaign except for a mid-season twelve-game absence due to injury.
Leading the squad defensively with a .994 fielding percentage, committing just one error in 157 chances, Mascarenas' insertion into the lineup for her final season also raised the Mount Belvieu, Texas, native's batting average up dramatically to .341 with a .591. slugging percentage.
Additionally helping the team with a second most 3 sacrifice flies, Mascarenas was 5th with 6 home runs, added four doubles within her 30 hits, and drew a third most 19 walks with 4 hit by pitches in accumulating a .465 on-base percentage.
Laney Wood – Honorable Mention Outfielder
Setting the table at the top of the lineup all season, the freshman from Kingman, Kansas, was the primary left fielder except for filling in at first base during Mascarenas' twelve game absence.
Batting .396, Wood recorded a program 4th best hitting streak of 19 straight games with another 12 straight coming late in the season.
Compiling a .464 on-base percentage, Wood drew a second most 22 walks and led the team with 22 stolen bases. The single season 7th most thefts help put pressure on the opposing defenses, as well as, connecting on a team second best 16 doubles, and tied McCormick for the team leading 60 runs.
In the field, Wood was even more impressive in her 156 total chances by committing just one error to tie Mascarenas' team leading .994 fielding percentage.
