Barton Softball earns four post-season honors #GoBarton

2022 Barton Softball post-season awards

Four members from the Barton Community College softball team earned Division I All-KJCCC and All-Region VI post-season honors.

Teegan Krol and Jaysa Anderson headlined the selections with first team honors, Sydni Williams landing on the second team, and Kayden Smith garnering honorable mention distinction.

Teegan Krol – First Team, First Base
Krol not only led the team in home runs but also the KJCCC and Region VI with 13 home runs, finishing with 14 on the season tying for the sixth most single season fence clearers in program history. Batting .358, Krol drove in a team high 52 runs behind a .752 slugging percentage and a squad second best 12 doubles.

The lone sophomore receiving post-season awards, the native of Hutchinson, Kansas, completed her Barton career with 22 home runs to rank fourth most in program history, 90 runs batted in for 5th most, and landing in the top ten drawing 36 walks in her two years.

Defensively Krol was equally solid at the first base bag with a .980 fielding percentage in committing just four errors in 198 total chances.

Jaysa Anderson – First Team, Outfielder
Battling with Krol for the team lead in multiple categories early in the season, the freshman rose to the top of Barton's stats as a mainstay in the No. 4 spot of the Cougar lineup. Batting .407 overall, the Andale, Kansas, native was an even better .416 in conference play.

Despite missing three games due to injury late in the season, Anderson finished second on the squad with 55 hits, a .467 on-base percentage, and six stolen bases. Anderson also finished third on the team with 35 runs batted in and drawing 15 walks while defensively holding down right field on a .864 fielding percentage with just six errors.

Sydni Williams – Second Team, Designated Player
Williams gave the Cougars value by fielding various positions and pitching to earn second team accolades. Third on the team with a .377 batting average, Williams also improved throughout her freshman campaign including in conference play to lead Barton with a league 8th best .442 average. The Wichita, Kansas, native also led the team's main lineup players with 25 walks helping compile a .467 on-base percentage, driving in a squad second best 48 runs on 9 home runs with a third most hits (52) and runs scored (41).

In the lineup mostly as the designated player, Williams also spent time in the field at the hot corners and in the center circle making 17 appearances, recording a 2-2 record with a save in striking out 29 batters in 33.1 innings while walking just five.

Kayden Smith – Honorable Mention, 3rd Base
The third Barton freshman to receive accolades, Smith quickly moved up in the lineup into the leadoff position for most of the season. The native of Topeka, Kansas, batted .366 with a .418 on-base percentage on a team leading 59 hits with 11 doubles, a pair of triples, and 5 home runs.

Barton tied for the third spot of the conference standings at 18-14, concluding the 2022 campaign at 25-22 overall.
