  • Gillette earns 1st team All-Conference recognition

    Barton County Community College’s Brandi Gillette capped off her softball career for the Cougars by being named 1st team All-Jayhawk West. Gillette, a sophomore from Midland, Texas, was selected to the 1st team as a 3rd baseman. Last season was she was voted Freshman-of-the-Year in the West.

  • Barton season comes to an end in District C Tournament

    The Barton County Community College softball team saw its season come an end over the weekend in Wichita at the District C Tournament. The Cougars went 2-2 at the event to finish 4th, losing in the loser’s bracket semifinal to KCK 1-0. Barton’s other loss was to the eventual champion Johnson County in the 2nd round, 2-0. Barton earned an 8-2 win over Cloud County to start the tournament and beat Highlands 16-2 in the loser’s bracket. The Cougars finished their season with a 30-31 record.
  • Barton sweeps Cloud County in Jayhawk West play

    The Barton County Community College softball team swept Cloud County Tuesday afternoon in a pair of Jayhawk West and District C games at Cougar Fields. Barton won the opener 4-1 then shutout the Thunderbirds in the nightcap by an 8-0 score.
  • Cougars go 3-2 at Colby Tournament

    The Barton County Community College softball team went 3-2 over the weekend in Colby at the Colby Classic, finishing in 3rd place. Barton went 2-1 the opening day, defeating Lamar (Colo.) 10-2 and McCook (Neb.) 6-1. Sandwiched between the wins was a 3-0 loss to eventual champion Otero (Colo.). Barton wrapped up pool play Sunday with a 2-1 loss to K-State Club, then won the 3rd place game 8-0 over McCook. Barton is now 19-25 overall.
  • Cougars split non conference games with Cloud County

    The Barton County Community College softball team split a pair of non conference games at Cloud County, losing the opener 6-4 and winning the nightcap 3-2.
  • Barton drops pair to No. 24 Dodge City

    The Barton County Community College softball team dropped a pair of games to Jayhawk West leading Dodge City Tuesday afternoon at Cougar Fields. The Cougars lost the opener 2-0 in extra innings then fell 9-0 in the second contest.
  • Barton goes 2-3 in first District C Crossover

    The Barton County Community College softball team went 2-3 over the weekend at the first of two crossover events against Jayhawk East teams in the District C tournament later this year. Teams are seeded for the District C Championships based on the results of the two crossover tournaments as well games against West teams in the District in regular season play.
  • Cougars split West games at Pratt

    The Barton County Community College softball team split two games at Lemon Park in Pratt Thursday in a make-up doubleheader from earlier this season. The Cougars lost the opener by a 9-0 score, but came back to earn a 4-1 win for the split.
  • Cougars split district games with Brown Mackie
    April 03, 2003
    The Barton County Community College softball team picked an unfortunate time to lose their first game of the year to Brown Mackie. The Cougars were 3-0 against the Lions heading into Wednesday doubleheader, which counted toward the District C standings and post season play. The result was a split with the Lions as Brown Mackie won the opener 8-7 in 8 innings before Barton won the nightcap by an 11-5 score.
  • Barton softball goes 4-2 in Johnson Tourney

    The Barton County Community College softball team continued its steady improvement with a 4-2 record during the Johnson County Tournament in Kansas City this past weekend. The Cougars defeated Iowa Lakes and Hutchinson Saturday around a loss to Seminole State (Okla.). Sunday the Cougars sandwiched wins over Fort Scott and Brown Mackie around a loss to Labette.
  • Cougars earn another split in West softball

    The Barton County Community College softball team split a pair of games with Garden City Thursday in the team’s home opener of 2003. Barton County lost the first game 4-3, but rallied for a 4-3 win in the second contest.
  • Barton splits West opener at Seward
    March 27, 2003
    The Barton County Community College softball team began Jayhawk West play in Liberal Tuesday afternoon, splitting games with the Seward County Saints. Seward won the opener 9-3 then Barton won the nightcap 3-1.
  • Cougars sweep Brown Mackie in Salina
    March 24, 2003
    The Barton County Community College softball team recorded its first sweep of the young season, traveling to Salina and defeating Region VI foe Brown Mackie twice. The Cougars squeaked by the Lions in the opener, 7-6, then rolled to a 9-0 win in the second contest in just 5 innings.
  • Barton stumbles early on trip; rebounds for late wins

    Several freshmen on the Barton County Community College softball team got a tough awakening to start their collegiate careers. The Cougars didn’t get to start their season until their Spring Break trip, which saw them post a 3-11 record.
