Lumpkin leads Cougar distance runners at Ollie Isom Invitational

The Barton Community College men's cross country team wrapped up the 2012 regular season Friday at the Ollie Isom Invitational held in El Dorado, Kansas.  Barton did not compete as a team in the 25th annual event named after the former Butler Community College coach but did have four individuals placing in the top twenty.  Held at the Wartick Ranch located in rural El Dorado, Kansas, the 5K invitational featured close to fifty runners and five teams from the two-year college level.  

Tyler Lumpkin led the men's results with a 20th place completing the 5K men's course in 17:24.53 with Tayron Reyes also cracking the eighteen minute mark finishing 26th in a time of 17:51.64.  David Berry was Barton's third finisher, placing 33rd in a time of 18:13.30 while Josh Watson's 19:21.34 placed him 43rd.

The Cougars will compete in the Region VI Cross Country Championships at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Overland Park, Kansas.
