Cougar Tennis falters lead in falling 5-4 to Hesston

Playing its second meet in less than twenty-four hours, the Barton Community College men's tennis team lost its third meet of the spring season Friday losing 5-4 to Hesston College at Club 1 Fitness Center in Great Bend. The Cougars will move from the inside courts to the outside on March 12 in taking on Cowley College.   The Cougars and Tigers will begin play at 10:00 a.m. in Hesston, Kansas. 

The Cougars caputured two singles victories to take a 2-0 lead.  Samuel Araujo dominated the No. 1 singles match defeating Hesston's Luis Ramirez 6-2 and 6-3.  In the No. 2 singles Rafael Sequeira  needed three sets to earn his victory over the Larks' Michael Oyer 6-2, 3-6, and 12-10.

The doubles teams captured two of the three matches but fell in the deciding third match to lose the dual 5-4.  The No. 1 duo of Araujo and Sequeira easily won their match 8-3 over Ramirez and Oyer while Barton's No. 2 tandem of Jeret Johnson and Ethan Smith were equally impressive in their 8-2 win over the Larks' Keenan Jensen and Dominic Murray.
