Testoni and Vogt da Silva earn Week 9 Barton Sports Weekly Athletic Award Honors #GoBarton

Barton Sports Student Athletes of the Week for Week of 10/19/2021

Barton Volleyball player Mylena Testoni and Men's Swimmer Enzo Vogt da Silva have been named the week 9 "Barton Sports Weekly Athletic Award Honors."

Mylena Testoni notched her first career NJCAA National Defensive Player of the Week award and 10-time career KJCCC weekly award honor. The all-around Testoni led the Cougars' 2-1 week with 6.10 digs per set and was invovled in five blocks. The sophomore began the week with a season high 26 digs at Colby before posting her 15th double-double of the year with 22 digs and 10 kills on a .500 attack versus Dodge City. Testoni ended her week leading the backline to 13 digs and three blocks in a short match Saturday at No. 5 Butler.

Testoni and the Cougars earned their second consecutive straight set sweep taking care of Pratt Community College Wednesday night. The Barton vollleyball team will conclude the final week of the regular season with a pair of matches on the road beginning Monday at Pratt and Wednedsay at Hutchinson. Match time for each of the conetest set for 6:30 p.m.

Long distance specialist Enzo Vogt da Silva won a pair of gold medal titles last week at the Tritian Triangular. The freshman opened his two-crown day jumping a spot up the program history books clocking the third fastest time of 10:05.59 in the 1000-yard freestyle topping the 10-entry field. Vogt da Silva captured his second gold of the day outdueling the 13-participant 500-yard freestyle turning in a 4:51.73.

Vogt da Silva and the Cougar swimming teams will have a lengthy break before returning to compitition on November 11th-13th at the Eagle Invitational held in Edmond, Oklahoma.
