11th ranked Cougars doinked in District Semifinals #GoBarton

Dennis Bottcher awaits shot attempt

The 11th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team had the regular season come to a crushing halt Thursday afternoon as a second golden goal sent 13th ranked Johnson County Community College to victory 1-0 in the semifinals of the Region VI/Plains District held at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita.

The Cougars' slim national at-large bid consideration rests at 14-5-1 while Johnson County will take a 14-6 record in Saturday's Championship game against 15th ranked Cowley College after the Tigers ended Neosho County's season on a 6-1 victory in the other semifinal matchup.

Controlling possession for the majority of the match and holding a whopping 25-6 advantage in shots, the Cougar attack would be blanked 11 times on frame plus four doinks off the pipes.

Defensively the Cougars were rock solid allowing just six Johnson County shots through the 104 minutes played and two shots on goal, the Cavaliers' first coming 16:44 into the contest with the lone other over 87 minutes later producing the game winner

Remaining scoreless after the first ten minute overtime period, Johnson County capitalized just 4:07 into the second as Micah O'Garro's "Johnny on the Spot" doorstep  rebound strike from Caden Hoehns deflected shot attempt.
