Barton's Bottcher snags NJCAA honor, Grant named KJCCC Player of Week for second straight week #GoBarton

Dennis Bottcher and Tajay Grant of the 6th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team were tabbed on the league weekly honors with a national award added on the wall as well.

The pair guided the Cougars to a 1-0 week, in a 2-1 win over national receiving votes Dodge City Community College.

Bottcher's second conference Goalkeeper of the Week honor comes with the national honor as the NJCAA Division I Goalkeeper of the Week. For Grant it was his second consecutive KJCCC Division I Player of the Week honor and third of the season.

Bottcher remained nails in net notching his fifth straight victory. The freshman made five saves with the lone goal coming on a perfectly placed through ball to the back post in capitalizing on a collapsed Barton defense. The victory over the week improves Bottcher's season record to 10-2 while helping the Cougars stay atop the conference standings.

Grant proved to be the difference make with both net shakers in Barton's 2-1 victory over Dodge City to avenge its earlier conference loss to the Conquistadors. Following a scoreless first half, Grant put the Cougars out front 8:33 in the second half then provided the game winner less than seven minutes after the Conquistadors equalizer for his conference leading 13th of the year.

Barton will look to clinch at least a share for the KJCCC West regular season title Wednesday evening in a tough road tilt against 4th ranked Cowley College set for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The Cougars won the first go around 1-0 back on September 14th behind Lucas Constante's game winner in the 88th minute.
