Trailing by two with thirty-seven minutes remaining Saturday evening, the 9th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team put three in the nets within a twenty-five minute span to escape with a 3-2 victory at 13th ranked Coffeyville Community College.

Barton's sixth straight win improves the Cougars to 6-1 in conference and 12-2 overall while Coffeyville slips to 4-2 in league and 8-4 on the year.

Next on the slate is another ranked opponent as the Cougars seek revenge for their only conference loss in welcoming 14th ranked Dodge City Community College to Cougar Field on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off. The Conquistadors handed Barton a 4-2 defeat back on September 7 in Dodge City.

A header re-directing a 35-yard free kick with 24:15 into the contest was the lone scoring in the near hour-long first half filled with yellow cards and stoppages resulting in Coffeyville enjoying a 1-0 lead to the break.

It took the Red Ravens less than seven minutes into second half action to double the margin as a 28-yard low strike found the gap inside post.

During what would be another sixty minute half with additional multiple cautions and stoppages, the Cougars dodged some near misses but stayed steady in the comeback quest with calculated strikes when presented.

Two minutes following going down two goals, the Cougars' Kimito Fritz helped set up the momentum shifting play with a long forward pass to begin a counter-attack play. Genildo Postimo fielded the pass with a one-touched chipped pass ahead to Tajay Grant as the Cougars' leading scorer buried the pass with an acrobatic strike far post cutting the deficit in half.

Thwarting another Coffeyville attack, Nicolas Galanis got the Cougars' speeding in the other direction with a long forward pass leading to the game tying goal. Just like Barton's previous goal, the flawless execution of the counter-attack left Victor Lucca downfield to one-touch Galanis' pass in flight towards goal with the speedy Grant going airborne to head it past the Coffeyville keeper.

The re-energized Cougars flipped the pressure resulting in a Coffeyville turnover in the backfield less than two minutes later. Switching the attack to the alternate side of the field, Genildo Postimo dumped a pass to the corner to Baptiste Susini. Dribbling past a Red Raven defender, Susini sent in an arcing cross into the box with Victor Lucca striking a midflight net rattler for the eventual game winner with 11 minutes on the clock.

Dennis Bottcher earned the victory in net improving to 9-2 on the season.
