12th ranked Cougars bounce back with home victory over KCK #GoBarton

Barton men's soccer goalkeeper Victor Goscinski makes a save versus Kansas City Kansas Community College

The 12th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team bounced back from defeat last time on the pitch for a 2-1 victory Saturday over Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Barton improves to 2-1 in conference play and 7-2 overall while the Blue Devils drop to 0-2 in league and 1-3 on the season. The Cougars look to carry the momentum into Saturday's 1:00 p.m. kick at Cougar Field in hosting 3rd ranked Cowley College.

An own goal broke the near 38 minutes of scoreless play on the cool and damp afternoon as Diego Veit's corner kick caromed off a KCK defender for his first of the season.

Six minutes later as the Cougars were looking to head to halftime with the lead, Reshano Hasselbaink's 28-yard laser of a free kick sneaked in near post tying the contest with 1:28 left in first half play.

Midway through the final half, the Cougars' leading scorer Tajay Grant provided the game winner on a 15-yard strike for his 8th of the season by delivering Francesco Boher's third assist of the year to the far post.

Victor Goscinski earned his second victory in as many starts, turning away three KCK shots and getting solid defense including a team save in first half action keeping Barton in front.
