12th ranked Cougars conqed in Dodge City #GoBarton

Barton Men's Soccer result at Dodge City Community College

Life on the road in the Jayhawk Conference can be very unkind from day to day as the 12th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team found out Wednesday afternoon in dropping a 4-2 decision to Dodge City Community College at Memorial Stadium.

Dropping its' third straight in the series and having its' three match winning streak snapped, the Cougars drop to 1-1 in KJCCC play and 6-2 on the season while Dodge City improves to 1-0 in conference play and 5-1 overall. Barton will look to bounce back Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex as they welcome in the Blue Devils of Kansas City Kansas Community College in a 1:00 p.m. first kick.

Just 14-minutes in would define the type of day it would be for the Cougars as Dodge City's initial cross sent in from the outside the bottom of the box found the back of a sliding Barton defender ricocheting off and sneaking inside the far post for the opening tally of the day.

Scoreless over the next 21-minutes, the shell-shocked Cougars found themselves in unchartered territory facing its' largest deficit of the season. The Conquistadors attack would benefit off a pair of defensive breakdowns by the Cougars rattling the nets twice in two-minutes for a 3-0 advantage at the break.

The Dodge City offense would strike again 14-minutes into the second half extending the f to four-nill converting on a 1-on-1 top shelf near post chip over Dennis Bottcher.

Barton would break through on the scoreboard with 6:41 left as Vinizzio Bortolotti's left side cross found the unmarked head of Calixtro Gutierrez cutting the deficit to 4-1.

Battling until the end, the Cougars added the final marker with a second left as a Conquistador tackle inside the box on Gutierrez's breakaway structured the freshman's second of the game and third marker of the season capitalizing on the penalty kick opportunity.
