The Barton Community College men's soccer team capitalized with a trio of second half markers in its' season opener Friday afternoon defeating Northeastern Junior College 3-0 at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

The Cougars will have a quick turnaround in sinking win number two for first year Head Coach Rafael Simmons as they host Lamar Community College Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. while the Plainsman will search for their first victory Saturday at York College.

Tied 0-0 at halftime and holding a slight 4-3 edge in shots, the Cougars started to dominate possession early in the second half.

The scoring frenzy began in the 51st minute when a charging unmarked Genildo Postimo rushed inside the 18' dialing up a laser strike off Diego Veit's cross beating the Plainsman keeper far post.

Making his collegiate debut in net, Dennis Bottcher faced three shots on frame with his toughest coming eight minutes later shielding away Clement Scaccia's header attempt coming from just outside the 6'.

Remaining aggressive, the Cougars broke through with an insurance goal in 74th minute as Lucas Constante was tackled inside the 18' resulting in a foul to send Tajay Grant to the 12-yard penalty spot. Grant converted on the 1-on-1 matchup against Augustin Warnod giving Barton a 2-0 advantage.

The Cougar attack prolonged havoc for the Northeastern backline in the 80th minute as Constante added the final Barton tally nesting home Francesco Boher's forced turnover and setup pass with a near post-strike.

Despite tied in shots at 10 apiece; the Cougars held a 7-3 edge in shots on target.
