Cougars explode for fifty-three point victory over McPherson College JV

Much like their women counterparts in the earlier game Tuesday night, the Barton Community College men's basketball team christened the recently installed new scoreboard at the Barton Gym with a resounding 111-58 win over the McPherson College Junior Varsity.  The Cougars used a 22-0 run to close out the first half and outscored the Bulldogs 46-7 up to the second half midpoint to cruise to the victory.  Barton improves to 8-3 on the season while the junior varsity squad from McPherson drops to 2-4.  The Cougars will next play two Jayhawk East foes this weekend at the Barton Gym in the Best Western Angus Inn/Cougar Booster Club Thanksgiving Classic.  The Cougars will take on the high-flying Neosho County Community College Panthers on Friday then Independence Community College on Saturday.  Both games set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

All twelve Cougars played and contributed to the win as six scored in double-figures.  Isaac Williams, with his family from Georgia in attendance, led all scorers with seventeen points all coming in the first half.  Tyler Corley scored fourteen while also leading the Cougars in steals with three.  Posting his first double-double of the season, Raheem Johnson scored twelve and hauled down thirteen rebounds while also blocking four shots.  Darius Gibson scored eleven and just missed a double-double performance in grabbing nine rebounds.  Rashawn Walker came off the bench for the final ten minutes to record career highs with eleven points and six rebounds.  Deriece Parks rounded out the double-digit scorers with ten while dishing out a career high seven assists to lead the twenty-three assist performance by the Cougars.  Darryln Johnson also had a solid performance with nine points and eight rebounds while Tyler Chambers came off the bench to score a career high seven points, all coming in a matter of fifty-four seconds in the second half.

Kaven Denno led only two Bulldogs in double figures with thirteen points due in part to a 4-of-11 performance from beyond the arc.  Chris Crook came off the bench to knock down 3-of-6 from long range in scoring ten points while Kenny Berry led in assists with four.
