Cougars too much for Raleigh in 108-75 victory

The Barton Community College men's basketball team picked up its second win in as many nights outgunning Raleigh's Finest Sports Academy 108-75 Saturday evening to wrap up the Highland Hotel and Pizza Hut Classic.  The Cougars scored 50-plus points in each half as Barton had five players score in double-digits.  Barton will next play Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against the Sterling College Junior Varsity squad in preparation of the upcoming Coffeyville Classic in Coffeyville, Kansas.   

Darius Gibson followed his twenty-eight point Cougar debut with twenty-six points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field and 12-of-15 from the free throw line.  Gibson's nine rebounds also shared team high honors with point guard Tyler Corley who also contributed thirteen points.  Coming off the bench Isaac Williams knocked down 4-of-5 from beyond the arc to score nineteen points while Deriece Parks hit 3-of-7 treys for thirteen points and led the Cougars with five assists.  Trey Unrau rounded out the double-digit scoring with ten points, four assists, and tied Parks for the team high with three steals.

Sharp shooting Jabar Ray had his second straight night scoring over twenty leading Raleigh with twenty-six points including 6-of-13 from long range.  Chris Thompson scored thirteen and Shawn Bostic scored ten.


Butler Community College finished the weekend with two victories as well, capturing a 73-58 victory over Fort Scott Community College.  Shomari Triggs' seventeen points, seven assists, and four steals led the Grizzlies while Trent Richardson scored fourteen.  Four Scott placed four players in double-digits led by Kevin House and Mabor Gabriel with twelve each, Will Harrington with eleven, and Prince Samuels coming off the bench to score ten points.
