Multi-Events Open K.T. Woodman Wednesday Afternoon

WICHITA, Kan.  --  Wichita State's track and field multi-event athletes open competition in the K.T. Woodman Track and Field Classic Wednesday afternoon inside Cessna Stadium.

The multi-events are the start to four days of track and field headlined by the 69th-Annual K.T. Woodman and the Shocker Pre-State High School meet.

More than 70 high schools are entered in the Pre-State meet, while more than 40 collegiate, small college and junior colleges will compete in the K.T. Woodman. Division I schools include Kansas State, North Texas, UMKC and Oral Roberts, while the junior college entries include Iowa Central and Iowa Western, two of the top two-year schools in the country.

On Wednesday, the K.T. Woodman collegiate competition gets underway with the Men's Decathlon at 12:30 p.m., while the Women's Heptathlon starts at 1 p.m. The men will compete the 100 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400 meters and the women will compete the 100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meters on Wednesday.

The Multi's wrap up on Thursday with the 110 meter hurdles, discus, pole vault javelin and 1,500 meters in the Men's Decathlon beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Women's Heptathlon completes the multi-event with the long jump, javelin and the 800 meters beginning at 11:45 a.m.

Recent Indoor Pentathlon All-American Breanne Borman will compete in the Heptathlon with teammate Gavyn Yetter, whose 5,447 points at the Crowe Rice Multi-Events ranks 12th in the NCAA and 10th in the West Region.
