Lady Cougars compete in inaugural FHSU Tiger Open

The Barton Community College women's cross country team competed Saturday in the first ever Fort Hays State University Tiger Open.  Held at the Sand Plum Nature Trail located near Victoria, Kansas, the 5K invitational featured over 95 runners and nine teams from the NCAA Division II level, NAIA, and junior colleges.   

Paulina Montoya again led the Lady Cougars placing 31st with a 6:26 pace to finish in a time of 19:59.51.  Close behind was Michelle Klepper in 38th place finishing at 20:20.08.  Samantha Vachon finished in 22:06.86 to place 78th while Larned's Kaileigh Dietrich finished 90th in her first race of the season in 24:25.89.  Lauren Belieu rounded out the Lady Cougars' ninth place finish coming in 93rd at 26:49.86.

The Lady Cougars next meet will be October 19 as they travel to El Dorado for the Ollie Isom Invitational.
