Former Cougar Taylor Littleton is in her third season as assistant coach for the Barton Volleyball program.

This past season the Cougars tied for third place at 11-5 in the conference standings, ending the season at 22-15 in the Region VI semifinals to the eventual national fourth place team.

Four freshmen members earned All-Jayhawk West/All-Region VI Division I honors led by the first team selection of Migle Mazurkeviciute. Landing on the second team was Rayanne de Oliveira with Karina de Oliveira and Mackenzie Pease earning honorable mention distinction.

Littleton’s second season saw the Cougars land in fifth place of the rugged Jayhawk West at 8-8, ending the season in the Region VI playoffs to finish the year at 18-18 overall which included ten losses to ranked opponents.

In the classroom the Cougars wore the runner-up crown in 2016 but in 2017 captured the national title, beating out 108 other schools over a 3.0 GPA with a stellar 3.78 combined GPA. Eight Cougars earned NJCAA All-Academic honors recognizing student-athletes achieving a 3.6 GPA or better, with three individuals earning a perfect 4.0.

On the court four Cougars earned post-season awards, led by two-time All-Jayhawk West/All-Region VI Division I first team selection Carol Goncalves. Wrapping up her Barton career 10th all-time in assists, Goncalves ranked fourth best in the region with 7.47 assists per set despite the Cougars running a 6-2 offense. Also repeating post-season honors, Monique Oliveira landed on the conference first team and second team of the all-region selections. Earning 2nd team conference honors, freshman Laine Alves Conceicao was joined by sophomore Averie Warehime’s honorable mention honors to round out the post season awards.

A 2013 Barton graduate, Littleton’s two-year stint included helping the Cougars to the 2011 Region VI Championship and a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament. Earning All-Academic honors her freshman season, Littleton’s sophomore season was decorated as a 2nd Team All-KJCCC/All-Region VI selection while ranking 33rd in nation in blocks.

Littleton earned KJCCC Player of the Week honors in her sophomore campaign by hitting .471 with seven blocks against Pratt Community College followed by a .444 attack and six block effort against Cloud County Community College.

Signing to play Division I volleyball at Mississippi Valley State University for the 2013 season, Littleton transferred back to Kansas completing her career at NAIA division level Ottawa University. Receiving All-KCAC honors, Littleton piled up 199 kills and 67 blocks during her senior year including a career high 18 kills against Sterling College and six blocks coming against Friends University.

A 2011 graduate of Derby High School in Derby, KS, Littleton was a two-time All-AVCTL selection for the Panthers.
