The Barton Community College volleyball program received distinguished Honor Roll academic honors as announced by the United State Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for the 2019-20 academic year.

The award completes an unprecedented year of academic challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic as the Cougars captured the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year accumulating a 3.83 GPA under first year Head Coach Alan Segal.

A national classroom champion two of the past four years, this season's Cougars had nine of its members earn NJCAA academic awards of over a 3.60 GPA including five earning first team distinction of a perfect 4.0 GPA.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average.

Barton led just six teams to earn the Academic Honor Roll award of the thirty-two teams exceeding the GPA requirements.
