Oliveira becomes 28th Barton Volleyball player receiving All-America honor #GoBarton

Barton volleyball's Karina de Oliveira receiving NJCAA All-America honors

Karina de Oliveira of the Barton Community College volleyball team recently received honorable mention NJCAA Division I Volleyball All-America distinction in receiving honorable mention .

Becoming the 28th player in program history to garner All-America status, the sophomore is the first since Paula da Silva's honor in 2011.

Oliveira reset the school record book in digs this past season, recording 825 digs for the top spot to finish second best in a Cougar uniform two-year career with 1217 digs, just 144 shy of Cristin Haines' total from the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Named to the first team of both the All-Jayhawk West and Region VI Division I squads, Oliveira anchored the backline clad in the off-colored Libero jersey to lead the region in total digs and digs per set at 6.65 while also ranking second nationally in both categories including just 53 shy of the nation's leader.
