Mazurkeviciute leads four Barton Volleyball all-conference awards #GoBarton

Barton volleyball player Migel Mazurkeviciute goes up for an attack

Four freshman members of the Barton Community College volleyball team were recently selected to the All-Jayhawk West/All-Region VI Division I squads.

Migle Mazurkeviciute led the selections with a first team honor after the Kaunas, Lithuania, native led the team with 349 kills and 2.86 kills per set and thirteen double-doubles acquiring a squad second best 347 digs.

Landing on the second team was Rayanne de Oliveira after leading the conference in assisted blocks (118) to record the program's fifth best single season effort. The native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, also finished second amongst her conference peers in blocks per set (1.22) and total blocks (134).

Concluding Barton's selections were Karina de Oliveira of Salto, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Mackenzie Pease of Manhattan, Kansas. Oliveira protected the back line with 392 digs on the year while the Pease put up a team second best 13 solo blocks and 79 assisted which was 11th best in conference.

Placing third in the final conference standings at 11-5, Barton's season ended at 22-15 in the Region VI semifinals with a 3-1 loss to the eventual national fourth place Saints of Seward County Community College.
