Splitting matches on the first day of the Barton Classic, the Barton Community College volleyball team won both matches Saturday to finish 3-1 over the weekend.

The Cougars began play on Friday in the five team, ten match Classic with a sweep over Region VI foe Labette Community College 25-13, 26-24, and 25-20. The Cougars wrapped up day one's action taking the nation's third ranked Reivers of Iowa Western Community College to four sets after winning the first 25-20 but dropping the next two by 25-15 scores with a 25-20 fourth set wrapping up the match.

Barton swept both its opponents on Saturday, getting revenge on Cloud County Community College from the T-birds earlier season win over the Cougars with the 25-23, 25-10, and 28-26 match. A 'second wave' of Cougar players took the floor in Barton's final match to win 25-23, 25-17, and 25-18.

The weekend improves Barton's overall mark to 16-11 as the Cougars will return to Jayhawk Conference play this week with two road contests. Sitting in the third spot of the conference standings at 6-2, Barton travels to sixth place Pratt Community College (3-7, 10-16) on Monday before heading to Liberal on Wednesday in taking on conference leader and No. 10 ranked Seward County Community College (9-0, 20-5). First serve for both matches set for 6:30 p.m.
