The Barton Community College volleyball team went 1-1 on the opening day of the Lee College Invitational in Baytown, Texas. The 5-7 Cougars will have another pair of matches on Saturday beginning with a 9:00 a.m. first serve versus Cisco College capped by the 1:00 p.m. match against the host Lee College.

Barton took the court early Friday morning with a straight set win over Coastal Bend College, earning a hard fought 31-29 opening set before taking the next two 25-20 and 25-14 in knocking the navy clad Cougars from the ranks of the unbeaten in falling to 7-1 on the year.

Fresh off a big early season road conference win at No. 3 Tyler Junior College, the 12th ranked Bulldogs of Navarro College led by former Hutchinson Community College Head Coach Ronda Shirley rolled up Barton in straight sets 25-18, 25-15, and 25-17.
