Barton Women's Swimming rides into the holiday break shattering pair of program records at the Wheaton Invitational #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's swimming team rode into the holiday break shattering two school records and posting 14 new personal best times at the Wheaton Invitational held at the Lederhouse Natatorium in Wheaton, Illinois.

Competing as the lone NJCAA program in the two-day event, the Lady Cougars compiled a fifth best team score of 344-points over the 18-events. Claiming the team title was host Wheaton College outlasting the field of eight teams with a score of 761.5.

Dominique Cos led the Barton swimmers obtaining a team high 43 points between a trio of individual and pair of relay events. The sophomore produced a pair of fourth place finishes in the 400-yard IM and 200-yard breaststroke with the biggest impact coming in the 400-yard IM clocking a new program best stoppage of 4:49.19.

Silvana Jacquez Viveros produced the second record breaker on the weekend that was washed ashore by 10 seconds breaking Fanny Courbot's 2019-2020 stoppage touching the wall in 2:13.82 earning a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke.

Linda Franco generated the second most points over the two-day event finishing with 41 while posting the highest individual finish on the squad with a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle clocking a time of 53.60.

In the relay events, the Cougars highest finish came in the long distance 800-freestyle as Olivia Kerr, Jacquez Viveros, Andrea Piedra Fernandez and Mikwena Lierman generated a third-place finish in the field of nine with a stoppage of 8:25.61.

Barton will head into the holiday break having nearly two months off before returning to the pool January 28th for the Nebraska duals taking on Nebraska Wesleyan University and Coe College.
