The Barton Community College women's swimming team won six of the twenty events Saturday as the Cougars placed third at the UNK Invite held in Kearney, Nebraska.

Placing sixteen in the Top-5, adding another twelve in the 6th through 10th positions, the Cougars scored 593 points but simply didn't have enough "horses in the race" to keep up with Western Colorado University's winning 1145 points and Colorado State University-Pueblo's runner-up 983 accumulation. Barton was however able to outscore University of Nebraska-Kearney by ten as the host finished with 583 points.

Freshman Fanny Courbot had a big day with five golds, three coming in individual events while helping the Cougars' relay teams to a pair of victories with a third coming up just a mere .05 of a second short.

Courbot's first title came in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.74 with her second coming in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.58) before concluding her individual golds in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:32.75 clocking.

Barton's other individual title was in the 100 IM as Elizabeth Spitz' 1:05.22 distanced teammate Lizbeth Candanedo's 1:09.15.

Courbot and Spitz teamed up with McKayla Siemiller and Cassandre Zenon to earn Barton's first gold, taking the meet's second event of the day in clocking a 1:50.54 in winning the 200 medley.

Sierra Williams joined the trio of Siemiller, Courbot, and Zenon in capturing the second relay title, winning the 400 medley by nearly five seconds in stopping the clock at 4:08.83.

A finger-tip provided the difference maker in the day's final event as CSUP's 3:43.59 time in the 400 free relay was just enough as Spitz, Williams, Siemiller, and Elizabeth Schrock were out-touched on a 3:43.63 time.

Barton's next action will be November 8-9 as the Cougars head to Sioux City, Iowa, for the Morningside College Invitational.
