Goal one accomplished, Barton women's soccer wins on opening day setting up showdown with top ranked Tyler #GoBarton

The 15th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team accomplished stage one of their National Tournament goals on Monday morning as the Cougars took care of Motlow State Community College 3-0 at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Georgia.

Seeded 8th in Pool A, Barton improved to 17-3-2 headed into its Tuesday's 9:00 a.m. (Central Time) season-deciding contest against top ranked Tyler Junior College.  The Apaches had a day of rest after also defeating Motlow by a 3-0 score on Sunday to stay undefeated on the season at 21-0.  Tuesday's game will not only be a rematch of the Tyler's early 2-1 overtime win over Barton, but will decide which team advances to Thursday's semifinal round.

Controlling possession for much of the contest, the Cougars pounced on the Bucks fast and early as Ivanna Faria gave the Cougars early breathing room on a near post strike from 20-yards out 9:31 into the game for her 8th of the season.

Hinano Nakagawa put the next two goals on the board, the first coming just under ten minutes left in the opening half taking Nina Norshie's pass to launch upper-90 from 27-yards out.

Barton outshot the Bucks 24-2 without allowing a shot on goal, 10-0 in second half action as the Cougars played all available players in the contest.

Nakagawa netted her third of the year and Barton's dagger of a goal just under fifteen minutes in second half play by shaping a 20-yard shot upper-90 over the Bucks' Lucy Riddle in goal.
