Barton's Norshie sweeps National and Conference Player of the Week honors #GoBarton

Nina Norshie Week 11 NJCAA and KJCCC Player of the Week

Nina Norshie of the 15th ranked Barton Community College women's soccer team was tabbed the leagues weekly and national player of the week.

The freshman accounted for six of the Cougars' eight goals on the week helping Barton to a pair of victories last week; with a 4-0 shutout over Johnson County securing the outright Jayhawk West title followed by a 4-2 opening round win in the Region VI/Plains District Playoffs against Kansas City Kansas.

Norshie netted two of her three goals on Tuesday in a span of less than a minute before completing her ninth hat trick of the season 18-minutes later.

In Saturday's district first round, Norshie again accounted for three markers, putting the first score on the board, delivering the game winning assist then putting the game on ice with a 75th minute net shaker.

Norshie increased her nations lead to 42 goals and 90 points for the second and third best single season performance in the program's history.

For Norshie it was not only her fourth KJCCC Division I Player of the Week honor but also her third NJCAA Player of the Week distinction.

The Cougars continued their season Thursday in the Region VI/Plains District Semifinals surviving in a 4-1 shoot-out over Coffeyville advancing to the title game for the second time in three seasons against top seeded and 4th ranked Butler Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m. from Wichita's Stryker Sports Complex.
