Barton women control Dodge City to earn second consecutive shutout #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time this season blanking Dodge City Community College 2-0 Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

The Cougars improve to 3-1-0 in the Jayhawk play and 3-4-0 overall while dropping the Dodge City to 1-2-0 in conference and 1-2-2 overall. Barton's next time on the pitch is Wednesday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. kick at Pratt Community College.

Coming off her first goal of the season just three days ago, sophomore Domenica Pena scored the game's opening goal in the eighth minute converting Larissa Modesto's through ball by winning the one-on-one battle against Conquistador goalkeeper Priscilla Gonzalez.

Barton freshman goalkeeper Itzel Diaz kept the sheet clean in turning back a pair of second half shots on frame including thwarting a 1v1 tangle against Sophia Martinez in the 70th minute. Eight minutes later Diaz came up with another big save, rejecting Raewyn Murphy's net attack keep the Conquistadors scoreless.

The Cougars put the claw into the Conquistadors with 8:25 left as Enola Prassel's long free kick was met by the header from Gabriela Frietas in finding the open boot of Leticia Modesto on the far post as the freshman blasted home her fourth twine tickler of the season.
