Gonzalez leads nine post season awards for Barton women's soccer #GoBarton

Nine players from the Barton Community College women’s soccer team received post-season awards following the conclusion of its 9-6-3 season. The Lady Cougars’ selections were led by eight from the freshman class being named to the 2017 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference All-West team, with freshman goalkeeper Reyna Gonzalez receiving All-Region VI honors.

First half thumping sends Barton women's soccer to season ending defeat at Johnson County #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women’s soccer team had their season coming to a crashing end Saturday in Overland Park, Kansas, as the Lady Cougars were outmatched 7-0 by No. 18 ranked Johnson County Community College in the first round of the Region VI playoffs. The Cavaliers took eleven minutes to get the first of their five first half goals before tacking on two more in the final forty-five to end the Lady Cougars' season by the same seven goal margin for the second consecutive year. Having their four game win streak snapped, the region’s seventh seeded Lady Cougars’ season ends at 9-6-3 while second seeded Johnson County improves to 15-4 advancing to Thursday’s 1:30 p.m. semifinal game.

Barton women's soccer sweeps conference week nine awards #GoBarton

Helping lead the march into the Region VI playoffs, Larissa Fagundes and Reyna Gonzalez of the Barton Community College women's soccer team were rewarded with the naming of the weekly KJCCC Kansas MTXE Division I Women’s Soccer Player and Goalkeeper of the Week for week nine of the season. The awards were the second of the season for each of the freshmen as Fagundes won her first in week four while Gonzalez earned the week two distinction.

Red hot Lady Cougars jump into playoffs with shutout victory at No. 20 Northwest Tech #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team picked up their second victory over No. 20 Northwest Kansas Technical College in the last five days, shutting out the Mavericks 2-0 Monday afternoon in Goodland, Kansas, to win their fourth straight to close out the regular season. Fighting for their playoff lives down the stretch, the Lady Cougars’ have been clutch in earning the West Division’s fourth playoff position, finishing the regular season at 6-4-2 in region play and 9-5-3 overall while sending the Mavericks to their second straight loss concluding in the third position at 9-4 and 11-4 on the year.

Lady Cougar soccer closes out home field with 7-1 victory over Pratt #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women's soccer team launched a season high forty-one shots Saturday in a 7-1 victory over Pratt Community College. Playing their final home game of the season, the Lady Cougars peppered the frame with thirty-two shots in distributing scoring between seven different players, utilizing a strong north wind for three first half goals before tacking on another four in the final forty-five. The victory keeps the Lady Cougars in command of their playoff lives with a fourth place region standing of 7-4-2 and 8-5-3 on the year as Pratt ends the season at 2-12 in Region VI play and 2-15 overall. Barton will concluded the regular season with postseason play on the line as the Lady Cougars travel to Goodland, Kansas, on Monday for a 3:00 p.m. (CT) Monday kick-off at third place Northwest Kansas Technical College in a rematch of last Wednesday’s 5-2 Barton victory at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Barton women's soccer knocks off No. 20 Northwest Kansas Tech 5-2 with second half flurry #GoBarton

Despite leading at halftime the Barton Community College women’s soccer team needed a second half rally Wednesday at the Cougar Soccer Complex, scoring four unanswered goals for a 5-2 victory over No. 20 Northwest Kansas Technical College. The victory puts the Lady Cougars in the driver’s seat to qualify for the Region VI playoffs improving to 6-4-2 in region play and 7-5-3 overall while the Mavericks drop to 9-3 and 11-3 on the season.

Lady Cougars' second half rally earns 3-1 victory at Hesston #GoBarton

The Barton Community College women’s soccer team rallied from a halftime deficit to score three second half goals Sunday in a 3-1 Region VI victory at Hesston College. With the victory the Lady Cougars stay alive for a playoff berth improving to 5-4-2 in the Region VI standings and 6-5-3 on the season while dropping Hesston to 4-8 and 9-8 on the year.

Late goal once again sinks Lady Cougars in another 2-1 defeat against Cloud County #GoBarton

Another late goal handed the Barton Community College women’s soccer team a 2-1 defeat Thursday to Cloud County Community College at the Cougar Soccer Complex. Having lost to the T-birds 2-1 in Concordia on a goal with just under five minutes to play, the Lady Cougars clung to a draw before Cloud County headed in a game winner with just under ten minutes left. The loss drops Barton to 3-4-2 in the Jayhawk, 4-4-2 in Region VI play, and 5-5-3 overall while Cloud County improves to 8-2 in conference, 9-2 in region, and 9-3 on the season. The Lady Cougars’ next action comes Saturday with a trip to Hesston College for a Region VI kick-off slated for 5:00 p.m.

Lady Cougars roll to shutout over Garden City #GoBarton

Four goals from Raley Mantz and another dominant defensive game powered the Barton Community College women’s soccer team to a 10-0 victory Saturday over Garden City Community College at the Cougar Soccer Complex. The seventh shutout of the season improved the Lady Cougars to 3-3-2 in the Jayhawk, 4-3-2 in Region VI play, and 5-4-3 overall record while Garden City remains winless on the season at 0-11 with a 0-9 and 0-10 conference and region record respectively. Barton’s next action will come on Monday with a trip to Goodland, Kansas, for a pivotal 3:00 p.m. Region VI contest at second place Northwest Kansas Technical College.

Barton women's soccer earns draw with undefeated Hutchinson #GoBarton

The post-game celebration Wednesday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex indicated a win for the Barton Community College women’s soccer over the No. 16 Blue Dragons of Hutchinson Community College. On the scoreboard it was actually a 1-1 double overtime draw as the Lady Cougars recorded its first positive result on the home turf against Hutchinson since 2005 as the teams battled through light rain putting up lone goals in each half of the 110 minute contest. The conference and region result moves Barton to 2-3-2 in the Jayhawk and 3-3-2 in Region VI play with a 4-4-3 overall record while Hutchinson remains unbeaten but slightly blemished atop the standings at 5-0-1 in conference, 7-0-1 in region play, and 10-0-1 overall. Barton’s next action comes Saturday on the home pitch as the Lady Cougars will have to remain focused as Garden City Community College arrives in search of their first season victory.

Lady Cougar soccer coasts to 4-0 win at Pratt #GoBarton

It took the Barton Community College women’s soccer team less than thirty minutes before calling off the dogs Saturday in Pratt as the Lady Cougars put four on the board in coasting to the 4-0 victory over Pratt Community College. The conference and region victory bumps the Lady Cougars into to fourth place tie at 2-3-1 in the Jayhawk and 3-3-1 in Region VI play with a 4-4-2 record on the season while Pratt sinks to 1-4, 1-5, and 1-8 on the year. Barton’s next action comes on Wednesday in hosting undefeated No. 16 Hutchinson Community College in a 3:00 p.m. kick at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Lone goal sinks Barton women in loss to Dodge City #GoBarton

Settling for a scoreless double overtime result earlier in the month in Dodge City, a mid-second half goal was all that was needed Wednesday at the Cougar Soccer Complex as the Barton Community College women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Dodge City Community College. The result flip flops the teams in the conference and region standings with Barton dropping to 1-3-1 in the Jayhawk, 2-3-1 in Region VI play, and 3-4-2 overall while the Conquistadors move in to fourth place at 2-3-1, 3-3-1, and 5-6-1 on the year. The Lady Cougars will look to get back to .500 on the season this Saturday in a road trip to Pratt Community College for a 2:00 p.m. kick.

Lady Cougars rattle the nets for three second half goals in shutout over Hesston #GoBarton

In just their second game on the home turf, the result for the Barton Community College women’s soccer team was identical as the Lady Cougars scored three second half goals Tuesday for a 3-0 Region VI victory over Hesston College. Playing against a 25-30mph south wind during first half action, Barton launched twelve shots in the final forty-five with three different players rattling the net in victory. The Lady Cougars get back to .500 overall at 3-3-1 and 2-2-1 in the Region VI standings as Hesston falls to 2-3 in region play and 6-3 overall. Barton will next travel to Goodland, Kansas on Friday, taking on Northwest Kansas Technical College in a 3:00 p.m. (CT) kick-off against the 4-1 Lady Mavericks.

Trailing by one at halftime, the Lady Cougars tied it up midway through the final frame before a critical defensive misplay provided the game winner coming with just over four minutes remaining. The loss sinks Barton to 1-2-1 in conference play and 2-3-2 on the season while Cloud County improves to 3-1 in the Jayhawk and 3-2 overall. Next up for the Lady Cougars will be 5-2 Hesston College as the Larks come to the Cougar Soccer Complex on Tuesday for a 2:00 p.m. kick.
