Barton women repeat the feat, score 3-2 comeback victory over Dodge City
A month removed from the Barton Community College women’s soccer team scoring two goals in the final fifteen minutes for a 3-2 win over Dodge City Community College, Wednesday evening was nearly a replay in Dodge City but this time it only took two minutes for the Lady Cougars to score a pair for another 3-2 comeback win over the Lady Conquistadors. Trailing 2-1 coming out of the halftime intermission at Memorial Stadium, Maddison Schofield powered the victory scoring twice in two minutes with less than eleven minutes remaining. The victory wraps up at least second place for the Lady Cougars improving to 5-3 in the Jayhawk and 8-5-1 on the season while dropping Dodge City to 3-5 and 6-7.

With just one regular season game left, Barton is still alive for a second seed and a first round home game for the region playoffs but will need some major help. Otherwise, the Lady Cougars will play their final home game coming up Saturday in the regular season finale taking on Northwest Kansas Technical College at 1:00 p.m.
After knocking on the door with shots from Rachel Craft and Megan Martinez being rejected at the threshold, two minutes later the Lady Cougars put together another opportunity with Maddison Schofield feeding Martinez who sent a through ball to Hannah Knaak only to be denied once again by Dodge City's keeper Emily Goldman.
Barton finally got the ice breaker a little over two minutes later as Amber Miller sent a forward ball up to a streaking Martinez up the left side. Taking a few dribbles into the eighteen Martinez sent a shaped shot over the reaching Goldman to the upper-30 for the Garden City sophomore's sixth goal of the year.
Midway through the half the Lady Conqs would get the equalizer as Cynthia Rodela's cross just eluded the toe of defender Kayla Metheny leaving Rawaa Ismail on the back side beating Alexandra Capalbo 1v1 near post.
13:35 left in the half Dodge City would grab the lead as Rodela teamed up with Sarah Barfield in getting Siobhan Longmore the open shot. Two minutes later Goldman protected that lead as Schofield's shot clanked off the far post rebounding backside giving Martinez two shots at frame with Knaak also getting two cracks at the net rejected first by Goldman and then by a heads up Lady Conq defender. Capalbo also did her part in keeping the one goal margin leaping high to deflect a 25-yard free kick over the cross bar with four minutes remaining in the half.
In outworking the Lady Conqs with a 13-2 second half shot advantage, Barton attacked early and often. Two minutes into the second frame a Barton scoring attempt on a corner kick was deflected by a defender guarding the post then three minutes later Schofield's 15-yard header was scooped up by Goldman.
Scoring the equalizer in the fifteenth minute in the team's earlier meeting, the clock ticked down to just under eleven minutes before Barton would tie things up. Set up by the play of Martinez and Knaak, Schofield found herself open in the center of the field before launching a missile near post.
Less than two minutes later Schofield struck again for her fourth multi-goal game. Getting the rebound back off her own corner kick, Kirsty Ashworth sent back into the six an arcing shot met mid-air by the head of Schofield sending it to the top loops of the net for the game winner and the Australian's fourteenth goal of the year and fifth goal in the last two games.
