5th ranked Barton women's golf with record setting day, wins sixth straight tournament with Barton Invite title #GoBarton #RoarCougs

Barton women's golf player Vilma Efraimsson after a record setting 1-under par 70 to win Barton Invite The 5th ranked Barton Community College women's golf team closed out the final day of the Barton Invitational with record setting performances to chalk up its sixth straight tournament victory.

Posting a day one score of 320, the Cougars were on fire Saturday morning at Great Bend's StoneRidge Golf Course to the tune of a school record combined 300 round to roll up a 105 stroke victory over Dodge City Community College. Six Cougars placed in the top ten of the twenty entry event, grabbing four of the top five placings, including the top three medalists.

Leading the charge was Vilma Efraimsson as the 38th ranked sophomore carded a program record 1-under par 70 in the final round to seize the title by two strokes over teammate and 31st ranked Mutita Booranakunamanee

Efraimsson's 36-hole total of 146 also tied Peerada Piddon's two round tourney record set in the 2017 Region VI Championship, as well as, tying Piddon for the second best two round stretch of golf. Piddon's national runner-up finish at the 2017 National Championship Tournament carded the program's best consecutive rounds in carding back-to-back rounds of 71 before posting 75 and 77 final two rounds to complete the four day stretch.

One behind Efraimsson's opening 76, Booranakunamanee also blistered the course on day two with an even par 71 for a 148 compiled score to also land amongst the top ten all-time best thirty-six hole score in Lady Cougar history.

Barton women's golf team following record setting round to win Barton Invite Second only to Efraimsson's six stroke improvement on Saturday, 54th ranked Ady Crough shaved five strokes off of Friday's 81 round in posting a 76 for a 15-over 157 tally.

58th ranked Getsemani Lopez moved up a spot on Saturday firing an 83 to finish tied for 5th at 169. Mai Intanant rounded out the five member team to also improve on day two in following an 87 with an 82 in finishing seventh overall with a 172.

Dodge City Community College had three individuals in the top ten in placing second as a squad with a combined 725 while Fort Scott Community accumulated a 799 with one cracking the leaderboard.

Barton had four individuals in the tournament as well, with Jacqueline Strunk carding solid 90 and 92 rounds to place 9th overall with a combined 182 score. Anna Hislop posted a 192 (95-97) to hold off Madison Peters' day two charge by one stroke (101-92), with Sydney Kirmse scoring a 203 (102-101)

Barton's next meet will be this Thursday and Friday at the Dodge City Community College Invitational, teeing off at Mariah Hills Golf Course at 1:00 p.m. on the opening day with a closing 9:00 a.m. start.
