Fresh faces continue Lady Cougar golf’s dominance, capture first conference meet of season

Having an entirely new squad from last season’s Region VI championship season didn’t slow down the Barton Community College women's golf team as the Lady Cougars held off a final day charge to win the first KJCCC Meet of the season. The Lady Cougars, who were protecting their home StoneRidge Golf Club course for the past two days, built a nine stroke eighteen hole lead in Monday’s opening round but had to hold on during Tuesday’s final nine holes winning by just five strokes. The victory kept Barton’s conference winning streak alive as its ninth straight win dates back to the 2013 season. The Lady Cougars finished with a 516 followed by the improved Conquistador squad from Dodge City Community College’s 521 and Coffeyville Community College’s 556.
