Barton women's golf captures second straight Region VI Championship and repeat trip to Nationals

The Barton Community College women’s golf team won their second straight Region VI Championship today at Hutchinson’s Carey Park Golf Course. Despite teeing off in inclement weather, the field battled adversity to post solid second round scores with the Lady Cougars coming out on top by eighty-eight strokes over second place Colby Community College. Barton shot rounds of 366 and 359 for a tournament leading 725 while Colby posted rounds of 409 and 404 to finish at 813. Dodge City Community College and Coffeyville Community College did not field a complete team but placed four of their five golfers in the top ten. The Lady Cougars, who have won three of the past four region championships, placed five golfers in the top ten which qualifies Barton as a team entry into the NJCAA Women’s Golf Championship held May 12-15 at the LPGA International Golf Club in Daytona Beach, Florida.
