Barton Bowling strikes up second portion of season #GoBarton

Returning to the lanes for the first time in nearly two months, the Barton Community College bowling programs found success this past weekend in Texas. The Lady Cougars rolled to a fifth place showing while the Cougar men finished in eighth place in Saturday's Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Circuit V in Dallas. In Sunday's SWIBC VI in Plano, the Barton women wrapped up with a sixth place performance, meanwhile the Barton men conducted a ninth place result.  

Over five individual games and 12 Baker games, the Lady Cougars posted a score of 6105 pins finishing fifth in the seven-team field.

Lauren Lust led the Lady Cougars on Saturday, bowling to a 7th place finish.

The Lady Cougars put together one of their best performances of the season on Sunday, setting four individual personal bests tallying 6425 total pins falling 24 pins shy of West Texas A&M's fifth place showing and 119 back of fourth place Oklahoma Christian.

Barton freshman, Taylor Cessna paced the squad with a 9th place showing rolling a seven-game total of 1346 pins with three games of 200 or higher, including a season best 267 in game five just eight pins more than her second game score of 259.

Great Bend, KS native Allison Brodrick joined Cessna as the other lone Cougar tossing three games of 200 or more, rolling a high score of 212 in the fifth of seven games.

Other Cougars eclipsing the 200-mark were Lust of Salina, KS (246 in game five), Faith Whited of Garden City, KS (210 in third game) and Alexandria Newell of Manhattan, KS (2-2 in game five).

Freshmen Alexis Leon and Erin Mayfield each rolled at least one game for the Cougars on Sunday.

In men's action on Sunday, Alec Roberts led the Cougars individually with a 23rd place finish, as the Great Bend, KS native displayed two games of 200 or higher, including a new personal best 265 in game three and 204 in game four tallying a total of 1306 pins.

Barton's Jacob Holden rolled to a team best average score of 198.2 in six total games bowled. The freshman eclipsed the 200 mark in three games tallying a pair of 201 scores in the fourth and fifth games, following up with a season best mark of 238 in game six.

Two other Cougars reached over the 200 mark as freshman Benjamin Banks totaled 221 in game three and Tracey Hill rallied with a 214 in game six.

Barton's next tournament will be the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic, a Tier I event set for Saturday and Sunday at Stardust Bowl in Addison, IL.
