Barton Bowling completes Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's and women's bowling team hit the lanes again this past weekend in Lawrence, Kansas competing at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge.

Competing against another tough field featuring some of the region's top tier programs, the learning curve in the inaugural season continued for the Cougars as the men placed eighteenth with the women coming home with a twelfth place showing.

The Cougar men tallied a total of 7609 pins in the two-day event falling just 43 pins shy of seventeenth place Missouri Western State University in the nineteen team field.

Wichita State University won the tournament rolling over 9500 pins compiling a 16 game baker best 3255 pins edging out Midland University by 78 total pins.

Barton was led individually by freshman Tracey Hill's 68th place showing rolling over a total of 1025 pins averaging 170 over six games in the field of 184 individual entries. Great Bend's local Jordan Black bowled a Cougar game best of 223 in his four games rolled while also recording team high honors averaging a score of 192 per game.  

On the women's side of things Barton finished twelve overall clearing up 4679 pins in the 16 team field.

After finishing with a team total of 4679 total pins, coming up just fifteen pins shy of eleventh place in the opening day of the tournament, the Cougars maintained their position in day two finishing with another twelve place showing knocking down 2636 pins in the 16 games of baker action.

Paving the lanes for the Barton was freshman Faith Whited finishing 76th overall knocking over 815 pins while Alexandria Newell fell back four spots of the 155 entry field finishing 80th tallying a game best 198.

Alexis Leon led the Cougars charge posting an average individual best score of 163.25 in her four games rolled.

Barton will have the weekend off before wrapping up the first portion of the inaugural season next weekend at the Bronco Open held at Pastime Lanes in Hastings, Nebraska.
