Bates III and Womsi earn Week 22 Barton Sports Weekly Athletics Award Honors #GoBarton

Barton Men's Basketball player Trey Bates III and Women's Basketball player Jenny Nkem Womsi have been named the week 22 "Barton Sports Weekly Athletics Award Honors" sponsored by Great Bend's Identifications.

Trey Bates III had a solid week for the Cougars averaging 15.5 points per contest behind 50% shooting while pulling down eight rebounds over his 58 minutes of action. The sophomore started his week scoring 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting form the field over 28 minutes of action before bettering his performance in Saturday's road win at Cloud County scoring a then career high 19 points behind 3-of-5 shooting from outside and pulling in six rebounds.

Bates continued his hot stretch adding 12 points in Monday's victory while posting a new career high 32 points on 69% shooting from the floor including a 5-of-6 performance from beyond the arc in Barton's victory over Pratt.

Jenny Nkem Womsi produced another stat filling week shooting 50% from the field averaging 15 points and 9.5 rebounds helping Barton to a pair of road victories. The freshman started her week adding 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting while falling just shy of a double-double performance pulling down nine rebounds in the Cougars victory at Coffeyville. Wosmi remained a force on both sides of the ball in Saturday's road win at Cloud County posting her second straight 50% shooting performance adding a game high 17 points and hauling in 10 rebounds producing her 10th double-double of the season.

Womsi helped Barton to a home victory Wednesday night finishing two rebounds shy of her 11th double-double on the year, scoring 10 points with eigth rebounds.

Next up for the Cougar Basketball teams is a trip to the Power Plant in El Dorado for a 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. tip at Butler Community College.
