Barton women's basketball's Queen Ulabo earns Week 16 KJCCC Player of the Week honors

Queen Ulabo of the Barton Community College women's basketball team picked up her third weekly conference on Tuesday in being named the sixteenth KJCCC Division I Women's Player of the Week.

Ulabo recorded a double-double last week in the Region VI playoffs helping Barton into the semifinals, posting the third straight feat going back one game prior helping Barton close out the regular season tied for 3rd in the Jayhawk West. Scoring twelve and grabbing fourteen rebounds in a first round victory over Cloud County, Ulabo's seventeen points and fifteen points while keeping on the floor for thirty-six minutes Saturday help boost the 6th seeded Cougars to their second straight berth into the semis with an eighteen point upset over 3rd seeded Coffeyville. For the pair of games, Ulabo averaged 14.5 points and 14.5 rebounds while dishing out a total of five assists and two steals.

Monday evening Ulabo just missed out on her fourth straight double-double, scoring eight points and nine rebounds in helping Barton erase a twenty-point second half deficit to knock off 9th ranked Hutchinson 58-57. The Cougars will be seeking their tenth program region title and first since 2008 in squaring off with top seeded Butler Community College in Tuesday night's Region VI Championship game at Dodge City's United Wireless Arena.

The award is the fourth weekly conference award garnered by the Cougars with Ulabo's trio of honors joined by Richelle Turney's distinction in week three of the season.
