Offensive woes spell doom for Barton women, fall 61-37 at Butler

For the second straight game the Barton Community College women's basketball team dug a hole it couldn't get out of as Butler Community College provided the shovel in a 61-37 loss at the Power Plant Saturday afternoon in El Dorado, Kansas.   The Lady Cougars' shooting woes and turnovers mounted allowing Butler to build a sixteen point first half lead going on to hold Barton to its fourth lowest output in school history.   The loss drops Barton to 1-2 in Jayhawk play and 11-4 overall while Butler improves to 2-1 and 12-4 overall.  Barton will have the next two games at the Barton Gym beginning with Seward County Community College on Monday followed by a Wednesday contest against No. 2 ranked Hutchinson Community College.  Tip-off for both conference games scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Two Lady Cougars reached double-figures led by Phikala Anthony's third straight and fifth this season double-double performance scoring ten points and twelve rebounds.  Ciera Lampe also added ten points while Katrina Roenfeldt scored nine.  Despite being one of four Lady Cougars saddled with foul trouble throughout the night, freshman point guard Dominique Baker led in assists with four.

Reigning conference player of the week Ashley Gibson led three Lady Grizzlies in double digits scoring twenty-one knocking down 5-of-7 from the field and 11-of-14 from the charity stripe.  Gibson also led in rebounding with eight and tied Jurnee Reid for the team lead in both assists and steals dishing out three dimes and three thefts.  Kate Palmer added fifteen, Kynadi Johnson scored eleven, and Nia Roberts just missed double figures off the bench scoring nine.
