Career high performances lead Lady Cougars to 79-71 win over Trinidad State

The Barton Community College women's basketball team put together another strong second half performance to pull away Friday at Otero's Holiday Inn Classic in defeating Trinidad State Junior College 79-71.  The Lady Cougars got a career high performance from Phikala Anthony to lead Barton as the sophomore dropped twenty-seven points and grabbed a team high seven rebounds while Hutchinson freshman McKinna Kraus also put up career numbers.  Having sat out last weekend's action in Dodge City, Kraus was the only other Lady Cougar in double-digits contributing career highs with eleven points and rebounds with five.  Ciera Lampe also had a solid outing with nine points and six rebounds, as well as, efforts off the bench from Bethany Bowman's nine point five rebounds and Indiah Cauley's team high four assists.  The fourth straight Barton win improves the Lady Cougars' mark on the season to 5-1 while dropping Trinidad State to 2-5.  Barton will wrap up the trip to La Junta, Colorado, with a 6:00 p.m. contest Saturday taking on the host Lady Rattlers.
