Lady Cougars pull away late for seventeen point win over Hesston College

The Barton Community College women's basketball team closed out the fall portion of the schedule Monday evening at the Barton Gym with an 80-63 win over Hesston College.  After being tied at halftime, the Lady Cougars methodically pulled away in the last eight minutes to capture the seventeen point win.  Barton improves to 12-3 on the season while dropping Hesston to 6-9.  Wrapping up academic finals this week, the Lady Cougars will take over two weeks away from before returning to campus to prepare for a January 4 game at Cowley College.  Barton will then have a week away from competition before beginning Jayhawk Conference play on January 11 as the Lady Cougars host Pratt Community College.

Cheyenne Hedrington led Barton with her fourth double-double of the season scoring nineteen points and eleven rebounds.  Phikala Anthony scored fifteen coming off the bench on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw line.  Mariana Lambert scored twelve while Kailai Brantner scored eleven and dished out a team high six assists.  Brandy Winbush rounded out the double figure scoring with ten points.

Nikkita Lester led Hesston with twenty points and a team high four steals while Makayla Ladwig scored fifteen.  Nikki Lowry led the Larks in rebounds with fifteen with five coming on the offensive glass.
