Winbush sparks Lady Cougars’ victory to wrap up fall schedule
Exploding for forty-four second half points, the Barton women’s basketball team finished up the fall portion of their schedule Sunday in Goodland, Kansas with a 70-45 victory over Northwest Kansas Technical College. The Lady Cougars, who clung to a 26-25 lead at halftime, trailed by five early in the second half before a pair of Blair Bloomfield free throws aided by eight straight points by freshman Brandy Winbush keyed a 12-0 as Barton outscored the Mavericks by twenty-four in the second half. Barton improves to 10-3 on the season but won’t return to action until a January 5 trip to Liberal, Kansas, to take on Seward County Community College in a 6:00 p.m. tip-off to begin Jayhawk Conference play.
