Lindley officially takes over the reigns of Barton women’s basketball
Chance Lindley was officially named the new head women’s basketball coach at Barton County Community College after approval of the College’s Board of Trustees Tuesday afternoon. Lindley takes over for Lane Lord, who resigned to take over as coach at Pittsburg State University. Lindley was an assistant for the Cougars this past season, helping the club to a 27-3 record. He becomes the 9th coach in the program at the school.

Lord resigns post as women’s hoops coach to take job at Pittsburg State
The Lane Lord era at Barton County Community College was short but very successful. Coach Lord resigned his position as the head coach of the Barton women’s basketball team to take the same spot at Pittsburg State University. Lord coached at Barton for 3 season, making 2 trips the Region VI finals and posting a 78-21 overall mark. This past season, Coach Lord guided the Cougars to a 27-3 mark, but Barton was ineligible for post season play due to a department-wide probation at Barton.

Barber 1st All-West pick; three more Cougars earn recognition
The Barton County women’s basketball team capped off a season to remember with 4 players earning recognition on the All Jayhawk West basketball team released Monday. Heading the lsit for Barton was sophomore point guard Andrea Barber, who was selected as a 1st team All-West pick. She was joined by teammates Inga Muciniece and LaToya Jackson on the 2nd team as well as Ipek Turkyilmaz as an honorable mention pick. The Cougars finished the season 27-3 but were ineligible for post season play.

Cougars complete season with 27-3 mark; 15-1 in West play
It wasn’t the celebration the Barton County Community College women’s basketball team had hoped for, but it was as good as it could be this year. With the entire Barton athletic department (except men’s basketball) on probation, no post season play was possible this year, nor was a shot at a Jayhawk West title. But the Cougars did what they could, ending the season with a 15-1 record in the West after an 89-78 win over Colby Wednesday at the Barton County Gym to end the season. The Cougars finished with a 27-3 overall mark and the West record will be at least in a tie for the best record in the West. Currently the Cougars are 1/2 game ahead of Seward, who is 14-1. They are the only teams to beat each other. Seward is ranked No. 2 in the nation.

Barton earns 14-point win at Hutch; 26-3 for season with 1 game to play
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team completed the road portion of its schedule Saturday night in Hutchinson with a spotless record. The Cougars wrapped up a 10-0 road season with a 64-50 win over the Blue Dragons at the Sports Arena. Barton won its 11th straight by holding off the pesky Blue Dragons, eventually winning with its 2nd lowest point total of the season and the fewest points scored in a win. With the win, Barton moved to 26-3 overall this season and 14-1 in the Jayhawk West. The Cougars have just one game remaining in its season, a home tilt Wednesday against Colby. With a win Barton would clinch what would be a portion of the Jayhawk West title at 15-1 if not for being on department-wide probation this season.

Cougars find offense in 2nd half; roll to 73-54 win at Butler
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team struggled to make a basket the opening 20 minutes Wednesday night in El Dorado, but Barton found its offense in the 2nd half, rolling to a 73-54 win over Butler County at the Power Plant. The Cougars scored 50 2nd half points to turn a 1-point halftime lead into an easy win on the road. The win moved Barton to 13-1 in the Jayhawk West with just 2 games remaining. Barton will more than likely need those 2 wins in order to share the best record in the West with No. 3 Seward County, which is 12-1 and won its final big-time test Wednesday night with a win at No. 9 Cloud County. Barton is now 25-3 on the season with a road game at Hutchinson Saturday before closing the season out at home Wednesday with Colby. Butler fell to 7-7 in the West and 19-9 overall this season.

Cougars set single season 3-point record in 95-44 win over Garden
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team is putting an assault on the 3-point record book this season, surpassing the season 3-point mark Saturday night in a 95-44 win over Garden City at the Barton Gym on Hall of Fame Night and Homecoming. The Cougars knocked down 10 more treys in the win, brining their season total to 224 – one better than the old mark of 223 set in 1999-00. Barton won its 9th straight in the process and moved to 12-1 in the Jayhawk West and 24-3 overall this season. That keeps them 1/2 game up on Seward County for the best mark in the West. Seward is 11-1 on the year. Barton has 3 games left in its season, traveling to El Dorado next for a contest with Butler County Wednesday at 6 pm. Garden City falls to 1-23 overall and 0-12 in the West with the loss.

Barton ends 14-year drought in Liberal; knocks No. 3 Seward from unbeaten ranks
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team had a lot of reasons to celebrate Wednesday night at the Green House in Liberal. First and foremost at hand was the snapping of a 14-year drought in the building with a 69-66 win over Seward County. The Cougars put together a rally in the final 5 minutes to rally from 9 down and earn the win. The win gave the Cougars (23-3) the best record in the Jayhawk West at 11-1. Seward (24-1) is 1/2 game back at 10-1. The win also capped a 2-game stretch that saw Barton win road games against Top 5 teams in the country. Barton won at No. 5 Cloud Saturday before the win at No. 3 Seward Wednesday. Barton will not play either of those teams again while Seward still has a trip to Cloud County next Wednesday. If Cloud wins that game and Barton wins its remaining 4 games, the Cougars will be the only 1 loss team in the conference.

Barton impressive in 91-73 win at No. 5 Cloud; No. 3 Seward next
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team has no post season to play for this year nor does it have a Jayhawk West title it can win due to a department-wide probation. But the Cougars can finish with the best record in the West. With that goal in hand, the Cougars took a large step toward accomplishing that with an impressive 91-73 road win at No. 5 Cloud County Saturday night in Arley Bryant Gym. The Cougars led by 31 points in the opening half on the way to the win, which sets up a huge showdown Wednesday night at No. 3 Seward. One of Barton’s (22-3) losses came to Seward earlier this year. The Cougars are currently 10-1 in the West and Seward (24-0) is 10-0 and leading the conference.

Cougars earn 87-60 win over Dodge; No. 5 Cloud County next on the road
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team took care of business Wednesday night at the Barton County Gym, rolling to an 87-60 win over Dodge City in Jayhawk West action. The win moved Barton to 9-1 in the West with road games at No. 5 ranked Cloud County and No. 3 Seward County next for the Cougars. Barton struggled during the opening half of action but picked up its play in the 2nd half to earn the win. Barton is now 21-3 overall this year. Dodge fell to 2-8 in the West and 8-16 overall on the season. The Cougars will visit 21-2 (7-2 in West) Cloud in Concordia Saturday then travel to 24-0 (10-0) Seward Wednesday.

Cougars pull away from Pratt for 98-53 win; 20-3 on the season
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team breezed to another easy win in Jayhawk West play, pulling away from a pesky Pratt team for a 98-53 win in Pratt Saturday night at Lesh Arena. The win moved Barton to 20-3 overall this season and 8-1 in the Jayhawk West, the 2nd best mark in the conference behind unbeaten and No. 3 ranked Seward County – the only team to beat the Cougars in West play this year. The 20-win season is the 3rd in Coach Lane Lord’s 3 seasons at the helm of the Cougars. Pratt falls to 3-20 overall this season and 1-8 in the West with the loss. Barton will be at home against Dodge City Wednesday to take on the Conquistadors in a 6 pm tip.

Cougars earn another West win; roll by Hutchinson, 68-48
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team made it another double digit win the Jayhawk West, rolling by Hutchinson Wednesday night at the Barton County, 68-48. The Cougars did so using a big start to the 2nd half, scoring 11 straight to open the 2nd 20 minutes. Barton improves to 18-3 overall with the win and 6-1 in the West. Hutch falls to 15-5 overall this year and 3-3 in the West. The Cougars will take to the road for just the 3rd time in West play Saturday with a trip to Colby to take on the defending West champion Trojans. Colby is 3-3 in the West this year and 7-13 overall.

Barton rolls to easy 82-63 win over Butler in West play
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team returned to form Monday night in an impressive 82-63 win over Butler County at the Barton County Gym. The Cougars hit 50 percent from the floor and dominated the boards against the Grizzlies in earning the win in Jayhawk West action. With the win, Barton improves to 17-3 overall this season and 5-1 in the West. Butler, receiving votes in the latest NJCAA poll, fell to 15-5 overall and 3-3 in the West. A 3-game week continues for Barton as they take on Hutchinson Wednesday at the Barton Gym then travel to Colby to take on the Trojans. Both tips are set for 6 pm. The game Monday was a make-up from Saturday’s postponed date due to snow. Hutch will bring a 15-4 overall mark and a 3-2 West record to the contest.

Barton sees 12-game winning streak end in 73-63 loss to No. 5 Seward
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team has made 3-point shots on a record pace this season. But no one would have known it by watching the Cougars Monday night against No. 5 ranked Seward County at the Barton County Gym. The Cougars didn’t hit a 3-pointer until 1:29 remained in the game, missing their 1st 14 3-point attempts. The result was the 1st loss in 13 games and the 1st setback in Jayhawk West play. Barton lost to the Saints, 73-63, to fall to 15-3 overall this season and to 3-1 in the Jayhawk West, out of a 1st place tie with the Saints. The Saints remain unbeaten this season, improving to 3-0 in the West and 17-0 overall. The game was a makeup from Saturday night when Seward did not make the trip to Barton due to weather. Barton will try to rebound when they hit the road Wednesday, traveling to Garden City. Garden City is 1-14 this season.

Cougars knock off No. 1 ranked Cloud County, 96-93, in West action
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team made a statement Wednesday night at the Barton County. With no post-season possibility due probation placed on the Barton County athletic department, the only thing Barton can play for this year is to win more Jayhawk West games than any other team – two of those teams are currently ranked in the Top 5 in the nation. Barton took one of those down Wednesday, as the Cougars beat the No. 1 ranked Cloud County Thunderbirds, 96-93, at the Barton County Gym. The Cougars led nearly the entire basketball game, holding off the Thunderbirds in the end for the win. Barton will set its sights on completing a big week of basketball Saturday as No. 5 ranked Seward County comes to the Barton Gym. Barton improved to 15-2 overall this season and 3-0 in the West.

Barton makes it 11 in a row with win 98-62 road win at Dodge City
The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team made it 11 in a row, winning its 1st West road game of the season. Barton captured a 98-62 win at Dodge City Saturday night in the Civic Center to kept its West mark perfect in the early stages of the conference slate. Barton moved to 2-0 in the West and 14-2 overall this season with the win. Dodge fell to 6-10 overall and 0-2 in the West. The Cougars will get the winning streak tested in the upcoming week as Barton host No. 1 Cloud County Wednesday and No. 7 Seward County Saturday in the Barton County Gym.
