The Barton County Community College women’s basketball team used a big 2nd half to propel the Cougars by the Friends University JV Tuesday night at the Barton County Gym, winning 74-63. The win moved Barton to 3-1 for the season with a pair of games against Jayhawk East teams this weekend in the Pizza Hut at Barton.

The Barton County Community College women's basketball team used a big 2nd half to propel the Cougars by the Friends University JV Tuesday night at the Barton County Gym, winning 74-63. The win moved Barton to 3-1 for the season with a pair of games against Jayhawk East teams this weekend in the Pizza Hut at Barton.
Highlights
Barton trailed by double digits in the first half but was able to cut the Friends lead to just 1 point at half, 33-32. The Cougars put up 12 more 1st half shots and hit 40 percent from the floor but fouls by the Cougars resulted in a 14-of-19 effort by Friends from the free throw line in the half.
The Cougars came on the 2nd half roaring, building an 18-point lead at one point. Friends was able to whittle that lead back down to single digits before the Cougars put the game away at the free throw line, hitting 13-of-19 charity tosses in the 2nd half. Barton was 20-of-28 from the free throw line in the contest, led by a 7-of-10 effort from Natalie Arndt.
Freshman Carly Bloomfield led the scoring for the Cougars, netting a career-high 21 points in the win. Bloomfield also had 4 assists in the contest. Akia Harmon recorded her first double-double of the season with a 12-point, 10-rebound output. Arndt added 16 points and 5 rebounds while Rebecca Chapman tossed in 11.
