Carson DuBose is in her second season leading the Barton Softball team and fourth overall after serving two prior seasons as assistant coach.

DuBose is the sixth head coach in the program’s now 42nd year, concluding her collegiate debut coaching season finishing 4th in the KJCCC standings at 22-10 and 30-22 overall. Twenty individual impacts were made on the program’s top ten single season historical charts with an additional 18 team accomplishments on the all-time list.

Nine members from DuBose’s squad Division I All-KJCCC and All-Region VI post-season honors led by a pair of sophomore in outfielder Halie Stoneking and utility player Sydni Williams landing on the 1st team. Pitcher Jessica Morgan, third baseman Calli McConnell, outfielder Jaysa Anderson, and designated player Jenna Henderson were named to the second team with honorable mention distinctions going to pitcher Kayla Beers, catcher Leslie Ramos, and outfielder Laci Dryden.

In the classroom DuBose’s Cougars compiled a 3.58 GPA with nine individuals earning NJCAA All-Academic honors.

DuBose’s second season as assistant coach the Cougars won three of their last four games to finish fourth in the conference standings at 18-14 with the season ending in the Region VI winner’s bracket semifinal concluding the 2022 campaign at 25-22.

Four members earned Division I All-KJCCC and All-Region VI post-season honors. Teegan Krol and Jaysa Anderson headlined the selections with first team honors, Sydni Williams landed on the second team, and Kayden Smith garnered honorable mention distinction. Krol would later be named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) West All-Region second team as voted by coaches to receive the prestigious

Off the field the Cougars compiled a 3.43 GPA with nine members being named to the NJCAA All-Academic team of achieving 3.60 GPA or higher.

In DuBose’s first season as assistant, the Cougars made a run for the Region VI title, coming up short in the championship game concluding the season at 21-27 following a fourth place finish in the Jayhawk East standings at 12-15.

A pair of Cougars landed on the All Jayhawk East postseason teams with Madison Faylor earning first team honors and sophomore Brooke McCollough selected to the second team.

Academically the Cougars also had a successful year in the classroom with fourteen members earning NJCAA All-Academic honors helping the team achieve a 3.38 cumulative GPA.

DuBose came to Barton from Division II Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she served as a graduate assistant coach for two years from 2019-2020.

While at Northeastern State University, DuBose helped the RiverHawks to a fourth place finish in the rugged Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) in 2019 posting a 28-27 mark. In 2020, the RiverHawks were off to their best start in program history at 16-8 until the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the remainder of the season.

Prior to the start of her collegiate coaching career, DuBose played two years at Northern Oklahoma – Tonkawa College earning Academic All-American honors her sophomore year. DuBose transferred to Rogers State University an NCAA Division II program in Claremore, Oklahoma where she concluded her playing career.

A native of Owasso, Oklahoma, DuBose earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Rogers State University and master’s degree in Health & Kinesiology from Northeastern State University.
