The Barton Community College softball team opened Jayhawk Conference play Wednesday sweeping a pair from Colby Community College at Cougar Field. The Cougars came back from an early 3-0 deficit to explode for nine runs in the fourth inning to capture game one 11-7. In game two, Barton wasted little time in putting away the Trojans scoring eight runs in the first and adding two more in the second to go on for the five-inning 10-2 run rule. Barton improves to 11-3 on the season and 2-0 in conference play while dropping Colby to 4-15 and 1-3 in the Jayhawk. The Lady Cougars will have a day of rest before heading to Liberal, Kansas, on Friday to take on No. 11 ranked Seward County Community College. After dropping its first two conference games to No. 3 ranked Butler Community College, the Lady Saints swept Garden City Community College on Wednesday to even their conference mark at 2-2 and improve to 19-4 on the season. First pitch for the doubleheader is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Lady Saints Field.
