Barton's Burnett earns national indoor track weekly honor #GoBarton

Davonte Burnett of the Barton Community College men's track and field team has been named the NJCAA Division I National Track Athlete of the Week by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Burnett set the track aflame in two events this past weekend in Lubbock, Texas, at the Red Raider Invitational. Taking third in the 60m short track with a 6.66 time tying for the 6th fastest time in program history, Burnett performed at an even higher level in the 200m by not only winning the event by clocking a 4th program best time of 20.73 to join the top eight all-time in junior college history.

The national award is the second consecutive week the Cougar program has been recognized for their performances. Opening the season at the Ted Nelson Invitational in College Station, Texas, Christal Mosley earned the KJCCC weekly honor after finishing runner-up in the 400m with a time of 56.18, second only to Adidas unattached international competitor Jessica Beard, to post the NJCAA's top time of the week.

Barton's next meet is this upcoming Friday for the two-day Black & Gold Invite hosted by the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
