Barton track and field program with forty-four All-American performances; tops in Region VI
The Barton Community College track and field team recorded a combined forty-four All-American performances recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The awards are earned finishing among the top eight in their events, including as a member of a relay team, accomplished at the 2017 NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field National Championships held May 18-20 in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Barton Track and Field's Nelson named national Field Athlete of the Year
School record holder and national champion Ricky Nelson, Jr., of the Barton Community College men's track and field team was recently named the National Men’s Field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for NJCAA Division I.

Barton Track and Field earns outdoor regional awards
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their outdoor regional awards with three given to the Barton Community College track and field team. Voted and selected by member coaches within the USTFCCCA, Barton received three of the eight awards given within the Central Region.

Trophy returns home, Barton men's track and field team captures region outdoor crown
The Barton Community College men's track and field team captured their first Region VI Outdoor Championship since 2010 as the nation’s No. 3 ranked Cougars won by twelve points Saturday at the Sports Complex in Arkansas City, Kansas. Barton scored 193 points to take the title, registering the program’s 21st region outdoor crown. The Cougars will stay in Kansas to conclude its season with a trip to Hutchinson May 18-20 for the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships.

Lawrence breaks school record, Barton Track and Field compete amongst nation's best at LSU
The Barton Community College men's track and field team went south to Barton Rouge, Louisiana, for the weekend competing at the LSU Alumni Gold meet Saturday at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium. Competing against multiple athletes amongst the NCAA Top 10, along with decorated professionals and Olympians, the Cougars had multiple personal best efforts while also seeing a school record fall from the top spot.

Cougars send abbreviated squad to KT Woodman Classic
Coming off an overall best performance of the year a week ago in Texas, the Barton Community College men's track and field team sent a much smaller squad to Wichita this past weekend, placing fifth overall in the annual two day KT Woodman Classic held at Cessna Stadium.

Nelson's school record and two golds earns second straight KJCCC Field Athlete of the Week honor
For the second straight week, Ricky Nelson of the third ranked Barton Community College men’s track and field team has been awarded the male KJCCC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week following his performance last week at the West Texas A&M Classic in Canyon, Texas.

Nelson shatters school discus record, Cougars capture WTAMU Classic
All around it was the best performance of the 2017 season as the Barton Community College men's track and field team put on a show in Canyon, Texas this weekend in capturing the 6th Annual West Texas A&M Classic. Barton won eight events in the two day competition within its twenty-five Top-8 placings against the mostly four-year competition, compiling 176 points to edge host and NCAA Division II No. 17 ranked WTAMU’s 169. The Cougars also had twenty-three performances that exceeded the national qualifying standard with twenty personal best efforts including jumping into the school record book in three events highlighted by the shattering of the discus mark by Ricky Nelson.

The Barton Community College men's track and field team competed this past weekend in Arkansas City at the Cowley College Tiger Invite. The Cougars won three titles amongst their twenty-five top ten placings while recording five national qualifying performances to go along with multiple personal individual bests.

Cougars take three titles at Arkansas Spring Invitational with twenty Top-ten performances
It wasn’t the best of weather weekends for out track and field in Fayetteville, Arkansas, but like the other Arkansas Spring Invitational competitors at John McDonnell Field, the Barton Community College men's track and field team battled through rain and several suspensions coming away with some notable achievements. Placing twenty amongst the top-ten in multiple events, the Cougars captured four individual titles, in addition to, recording two performances falling amongst the best ten performances in school history.

Ten national qualifying standards highlight Cougar performances in runner-up placing at ESU Spring Invitational
Coming off a third place national finish in the indoor season, the Barton Community College men's track and field team opened the outdoor season with a runner-up placing this past Friday at the ESU Spring Invitational hosted by Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. The Cougars had ten NJCAA national qualifying performances on the Golden Oval of Witten Track inside Welsch Stadium, as Barton would have twenty performances in the Top-10 including four golds competing against sixteen other teams.

Barton Track and Field coaches highlight indoor regional awards; Cougars earn thirty-six All-American honors
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their indoor regional awards recently with the Barton Community College track and field team earning thirty-six All-American awards including three coaching honors. Student-athletes earned USTFCCCA All-America status by virtue of finishing among the top-8 in their events, including as a member of a relay team, at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships in Pittsburg, Kansas, while coaching honors were voted and selected by coaches within the USTFCCCA.

The Barton Community College track and field teams both finished amongst the nation?s elite as the men captured the third place trophy while the women fell just three points shy of grabbing the third spot to finish in fourth.

Five program best top-ten performances highlight No. 3 Cougars at Indoor Championships
The Barton Community College men’s track and field team finished third this past weekend at the Region VI/KJCCC Indoor Championships held at Pittsburg State University's Robert W. Plaster Center. Taking home two individual titles, the Cougars had twenty-seven top-ten finishes including five performances falling in the top ten best efforts in school history.
