Barton Men produce three new program records in day 2 action at NJCAA Championships #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's swimming team produced a trio of school record breakers in Thursday's second day action at the NJCAA National Swimming & Diving Championships held in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Slipping a spot in the team standings with 262 points produced through 12 events, the Cougars remain within reach with two days remaining trialing third place Iowa Central Community College by 12.5 and remain in contention of second place Southwestern Oregon Community College's total of 344.5.

Barton will return to the pool for third day action featuring six more events on tap with action getting underway at 8:30 a.m. (CT) from the Anne Wilder Aquatic Complex.

Adding a trio of new program best times, the Cougars improved 13 new personal best times, two season best marks and rewrote 10 new program top-10 times over the seven events throughout the day.

Josias Solarte and Jethro Irvine fashioned two of the three new program best times in the 100-butterfly. Solarte etched his name atop the books in the morning prelims with a 49.73 ranking fourth heading into the evening's finals. The sophomore's top time lived all of nine hours as Irvine bounced back in the evening's portion edging his counterpart's prior best mark by .16-seconds as the freshman secured a fourth-place finish in a time of 49.57 with Solarte posting a seventh-place result.

Sophomore, Isaiah Auld generated the second-best individual placing of the day producing a sixth place result falling just .50 seconds off his prelim season best time of 1:42.23.

Cooper Cole and Enzo Vogt da Silva rounded out the other individual podium finishes for Barton as the duo obtained new personal best finishes in the 50 backstroke and 400 IM with a seventh place (24.36) and eight place (4:10.75) respectfully.

After disqualifying in the evening's opening 200 freestyle relay, the Cougars responded with vengeance in the final event of the evening as Irvine, Johan Cue Carrilo, Solarte, and Tyler Woodworth teamed up to break the program's 400-medley relay turning in a bronze medal finish with a touching of 3:20.27.
