After a month off, the Barton Community College swim teams returned back to competition in the Colorado College Classic held in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Cougar men returned home with their third team title on the season with the Lady Cougars bringing back a third place showing.

Battling the tough elements of altitude all weekend the Cougars utilized the training opportunity resulting in a host of positive results in preparation for the final stretch of the season.

Ahead for the Cougars is their lone home meet of the season as three other teams will invade the Barton pool on Saturday for the Barton Winter Invite. Free admission, the meet is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. with live web streaming also offered at BartonSports.com.

The Cougar men dominated the team standings claiming 11 of the 20 events over the course of the weekend. Placing 57 times inside the top-8, Barton finished scoring 269.5 more points than second place and host Colorado College.

Led by freshman, Nikolas Ioannides and fellow teammates Kacper Mayerberg, Ryan Downing and Chris Sprenger the Cougars delivered a strong message Friday evening claiming the top four spots in the 1650 free.

In Saturday's action, the Cougars once again opened and ended competition with a title securing the 400 medley relay (3:40.56) and 400 free relay (3:15.73). First year swimmers, Mayerberg captured the 200 butterfly, Kamren Hall in the 400 IM and Downing earning the 100 breaststroke.

Highlighting final day action on Sunday, Barton snagged five more titles. Individually Ioannides notched his second crown on the weekend in the 500 free (4:52.89) while Sprenger and David Garcia snagged titles in the 200 breaststroke and 50 free. As a team Barton's other two titles in final day action came in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Meanwhile, the Lady Cougars posted 26 top-8 performances including three titles en route to a third place showing among six teams.
